I feel it is important for students to be able to have some input into improvements to the school to make it the best it can be and this is where my passion lies.
This would undoubtedly be a challenging and demanding role, considering the many inputs and opinions that have to be taken into account, however it is a role that I feel I could meet successfully and give a worthwhile contribution to suggestions brought to the Student Voice.
Another strength I believe I could bring to the role of Senior Prefect would be the ability to speak to large groups of people at a time and have good communication skills. Within the group, I organize meetings and activities for the Brownies and this presents me with the opportunity to interact with younger age groups.
During my time in Years 7- 11, I participated in school productions which require one to show confidence in communicating a specific role that you are playing. The Role of Senior Prefect requires someone who shows great commitment to the school environment and shows confidence in being a major representative for the school.
In terms of specific responsibilities, my interest lies particularly within the role of Chair of Student Voice. However it is this challenge that makes me enjoy being a Young Leader even more so, as I get to offer innovative ideas to inspire them.
My participation within the Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award Scheme has further developed these skills. I have also helped on Brownie Holidays which requires one to think on their feet and be prepared for whatever may happen, as working with the Brownies and adapting to their way of thinking can often be a challenge!
I show great willingness in wanting to offer my service to the school in whatever needs doing with my initiative, ability to work within a team and as a competent leader.
For these reasons, I believe that I am greatly suited to the role as Senior Prefect and view it as an excellent opportunity to further show my commitment to the school. These aspects of the school form its unique foundation and I think it would be beneficial to the younger years and sixth form to be informed about such areas.
Another idea I have always had but never had the chance to introduce, would be to have senior Prefects assigned to forms years At times when we struggled to navigate towards our final destination it was important for us to work together as a team to achieve our goal.
They need not be present during day to day registration, but to have a mentor for the younger years, someone who they can come to with their queries other than the teachers; I believe would strengthen the school community, help form a stronger relationship between the Sixth Form and younger years, whilst also building our inter-personal skills.
An additional example of where I have shown progressive leadership skills would be within my role as a Young Leader at a Brownies Group that I have been with for almost two years. A key skill that I feel I can bring to the role of senior prefect would be the ability to work as a leader and also as part of a team.Prefect Letter Application Essay; Prefect Letter Application Essay.
